Digestive Disorders and GI system Balance

Have you been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Do you wonder WHY your bowel is so “irritated” in the first place?

We wonder that also and investigate the underlying cause with each patient. Megan believes that IBS is a diagnosis of exclusion and should not be considered the end of the road for the patient. We utilize various functional diagnostic testing, such as complete blood panels, food intolerance testing, and complete stool and digestive analysis to determine the real reason for your diarrhea, constipation, gas and/or bloating and then we work with those results and the patient to correct the problem to achieve optimal digestive balance.

Healing the GI Tract

There are several reasons why many people experience IBS or its associated signs and symptoms such as chronic diarrhea, constipation, GERD, gas, bloating or nausea. If those reasons involve leaky gut, gut dysbiosis or an unbalanced ratio of “good” bacteria to “bad” bacteria in the GI tract, then we can work with the patient to make dietary and supplement corrections and then allow them to regain their life and their health.

You may be asking why do people get “gut dysbiosis” in the first place? Well there is not an easy answer, and the problem can go all the way back to infancy. Here are some common reasons why people develop a poor functioning digestive tract:

  • Standard American Diet – processed foods, artificial sugars, high fructose corn syrup, white sugars, genetically modified foods, pesticides
  • Environmental factors and toxic overload
  • Antibiotic use
  • Lack of beneficial and protective bacteria
  • Lack of fruits, vegetables, whole foods and fiber
  • Formula versus breastfeeding
  • Early introduction of foods without proper order of foods
  • Stress
  • Lack of sleep
  • Various medications
